Welcome to my virtual center. I hope you will find it interesting and useful. It is intended to give you an impression about me as well as hopefully stimulating you to want to know a little more. It also serves to give family and friends an update on current activities and interests in my life.

The picture is Barbara and I under the mistletoe on Christmas day.

A big change in 2007 was the arrival of Paco, a giant (18) pound Chihuahua.  He joins Joy and Lucky and is Joy’s constant playmate.

Current Projects

Well, 2008 has arrived. I will turn 65 this year.  I am dedicating the year to my health.  Foremost is my new health plan which I have dubbed the E.L.E.M. program which stands for Eat Less Exercise More.  I have bet my brother Mike a steak dinner that I can lose 50 pounds.  He has to lose 25 pounds to qualify

Barbara and two of her sisters, plus all the husbands are planning to get together in February in San Diego.  Thought the winters have been mild in Dallas, it will still be nice to go to a miler climate.

Barbara, Michelle, Dan and I hope to go to Europe in May.  Other than that, my business travel should be about the same as last year; several trips to South America, several to Europe, and perhaps one to Israel.

I am very keen to see Petra in Jordon.

I have several interesting projects that I am working on in my business and I expect that next year will be very busy.

Both of these Theorems and/or Laws have major philosophical implications my life.

The Second Law of Thermodynamics and Murphy's Law
I enjoyed reading this and thought someone else might as well.

Gödel's Incompleteness Theorem is one of the most important theorems of this century and one which has greatly influenced me. I remember encountering it in Douglas Hofstadter's Pulitzer-prizewinning book "Godel, Escher, Bach".

AN EXERCISE

2008 should be an interesting and important year.  As an example, the question of who will replace George Bush as President will be answered.  To see the important issues that I think need to be addressed next year, go to 2008 Important Questions.

Biographical Information

Family

My wonderful wife Barbara and I live in Texas. We have four children and six grandchildren and two Great Grandchildren. My brother lives in Dallas as well as many nieces and nephews and friend and many friends of over twenty five years.

Profession

I have been self employed for over six years and help several companies develop new products for insect control with a lot of help by my associates.  My latest products have been a line of a natural dog and cat fleas and tick products, new equine spray for Control Solutions and a new dog squeeze on for Sergeant's Pet Care Products.  Both may be the best available in the channels of distribution in which they offered..

The Journey

I was brought up in El Paso, Texas. I lived in Bolivia and Paraguay seven years prior to returning to the US to attend college to study chemistry. I worked in Dallas for eighteen years, near NYC for seven, in Memphis for nine years, and returned to Dallas full time in 2002 after commuting for several years between Memphis and Dallas.

Personal Interests

Cooking:  I enjoy cooking and try to cook at least one major meal a week for family and friends.

I have posted a web version of The Del Camino Mexican Cook book which I helped write nearly forty years ago in El Paso while working in one of El Paso's best Mexican restaurants of that time. I hope you will visit it and enjoy it.

There's no heart as sad as an empty purse.
  • La rana mas aplastada es la que más recio grita.
The frog squashed the hardest croaks the loudest.
  • Para tonto ne se estudia.
One needn't study to become a fool.
  • El que parte y comparte, se queda con la mejor parte.
  • He who devides and shares is left with the best share..
  • La amistad sincera es un alma repartida en dos cuerpos.
True friendship is one soul shared by two bodies.

Other:

Barbara and I continue to enjoy movies and plays and go out at least once a week to one or another.
I continue to find and enjoy poetry.
Thought this is not a poem, but rather lyrics from a song that my Brother shared with me, it fits my mood at the beginning of this year.....

 Thankful
Lyrics by Josh Groban

Somedays, we forget to look around us,
Somedays, we can't see the joy that surrounds us,
So caught up inside ourselves,
We take when we should give,
So for tonight we pray for,
What we know can be,
And on this day we hope for,
What we still can't see,
It's up to us, to be the change,
And even though we all can still do more,
There's so much to be thankful for,
Look beyond ourselves,
There's so much sorrow,
It's way to late to say, I'll cry tomorrow
Each of us must find our truth,
It's so long overdue,
So for tonight we pray for,
What we know can be,
And everyday, we hope for,
What we still can't see,
It's up to us, to be the change,
And even though we all can still do more,
There's so much to be thankful for,
Even with our differences,
There is a place were all connected,
Each of us can find each others light,
So for tonight, we pray for
What we know can be,
And on this day, we hope for,
What we still can't see,
It's up to us, to be the change,
And even though this world can still do so much more
There's so much to be thankful for.
